FUNCTION DIFFERENTIAL / AXLE

Differential Gear.
Which consists of the side gear, and serves to distinguish the wheel rotational speed when turning left and right.








HOW TO WORK DIFFERENTIAL /AXLE
1. By the time the car goes straight:
Drive pinion rotating ring gear, differential case rotating ring gear, pinion gear defferential case moves through the pinion shaft and pinion gear rotate
left and right side gear with the same rpm as prisoners left and right wheels together, causing the wheels left and right alike. (RPM A = B).









2. At the time the vehicle turn right
Drive pinion rotating ring gear, differential case rotating ring gear, differential drive pinion gear case through the pinion gear shaft and pinion gear rotate left side gear around the right side for greater custody right wheel, causing the wheels left greater than right wheels. (RPM A> B).





3. When the vehicle is turning left
Drive pinion rotating ring gear, differential case rotating ring gear, differential drive pinion gear case through the pinion gear shaft and pinion gear right side rotate around the left side gear as prisoners left a bigger wheel, causing the right wheel rotation is larger than the left wheel. (RPM A <B)

WORK STEPS

HOW TO REMOVE AND DISASSEMBLE DIFFERENTIAL

a. Removing the wheel shafts.
b. Remove the propeller shaft of the differential.
c. Remove the differential from axle housing.
d. The differential inspection before unloading.
When the differential noise arises, do the following preliminary examination, before demolition to determine the cause of the noise. Then Check the rocking gear ring. The maximum rocking 0.10 mm (0.0039 in). After the measurement result was the same as the maximum rocking namely 0,10mm, so no need to replace the ring gear, in addition to the ring gear was new. When rocking is greater than the value maksimurn, replace the ring gear.
After checking the rocking ring gear, then check ring gear backlash. And after the measured result is less than the value of the specification, so do realigning backlas, having set the second time the result was the same, namely 0,14mm
e. Remove the differential demolition flange connector, using a hammer and chisel, notch loosen the nut, then use SST to withstand flange, loose nut 09330-00021, then use the SST, loose flange connector. SST 09330-00021
After removing the flange connector, then Remove oil seals and retaining the oil. Using SST, remove the oil seal of the differential carrier. SST 09308-10010, Remove the retaining oil.
Ring gear
After removing the retaining oil and then remove the differential case and ring gear of the differential carrier by way of make a mark on the bearing cap and the differential carrier, then remove the two locking nut setter, then Remove the lid bearing and setter.
After differential apart, then remove the drive pinion of the differential carrier.
f. Removing the gear ring (ring gear)
Remove the bolts fastening ring gear and the locking plate, then make a mark on the ring gear and differential case,.
g. Dismantling a differential case
loading and differential case with a hammer and a drip, remove the pen. Then remove the pinion shaft, two pinion gears with thrust ring.
EXAMINATION COMPONENTS DIFFERENTIAL
a. Examine the driving angle
Which examined the part peg flange nut fastener, wear seat pinion shaft bearings and the pinion and gear  tooth wear corona.
b. Checking part of the differential case
Check the wear of the bearing surface friction, wear planetary gear shaft and gear tooth wear planets and satellites.
DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY
a. Assemble the differential case
Attach the appropriate thrust ring and pinion side. Following the instructions the following table, choose the thrust ring which can provide backlash specifications. Choose rings with the same thickness for both sides. Then put into a planetary gear differential case.
b. Using a hammer and pen installing drip, plug the pen entry on differential tub and pinion shaft holes.
Notch holes on differential tub.
c. Installing the gear ring on the differential case
Before installing the first ring gear Clean the contact surface of the differential case, then heat the gear ring at 100 ° C (212 ° F) in heating oil, then wipe the surface of the contact on the gear ring with cleaning materials.
Then immediately attach it to the differential ring gear case. Ensure the mark on the ring gear and differential case, gear oil Apply on the bolts fastening ring gear. then Attach locking plate and screw fastener. Tighten bolts evenly, little by little, with 985 kg-cm moment. Then by using a hammer and a drip, a notch locking plate.

d. Replace the pinion shaft
e. Installing the connector flange
Attach flange connector with screw nut Apply grease to the new, Using SST, to hold the flange, tighten the nut. SST 09330-00021

f. Installing differential case and ring gear on the differential carrier
Attach the outer glide pads at each pad, and be sure not to confuse the outside glide left and right

g. Put the nut setter
Attach the adjusting nut on each carrier, and make sure the associated threaded correctly.
h. Installing the bearing cap
Place a mark on the bearing cap and carrier, and attach the lid bearing two screws, two or three threaded, and press the lid bearing by hand.

i. Tighten the adjusting ring
Tighten the adjusting ring left and right to get a desired position or set of friction between the ring gear and pinion gear up properly. Then tighten the bearing cap bolts.

INSTALLING THE DIFFERENTIAL TO VEHICLE
a. Replace the gasket at home axsel, then plug the differential at home axsel, and tighten to 12 bolt fastener.
b. Installing shaft propelel
Put marks on both flanges, then attach the flange with the four bolts and nuts.

c. Check the oil level differential.
Fill with OII hypoid gears when needed.
Oil level: API GL-5, OII hypoid gears
Viscosity: SAE90
1 capacity of 1.3 liter (1.4 US qts, 1.1 Imp, qts)

TESTING
Having completed all the testing done by turning on the machine, then the input gear and run the car as he heard whether there is sound arising from the differential and vibration due to unfavorable adjustment. If there are significant results are less good and need to be reset, but if there is no meaningful results are good
